Brief introduction
Division of Mechanics and Manufacture Measurement Technology is mainly in charge of establishing and maintaining public standards of measurement, traceability and transmission of measurement values in the fields of length, force and acoustics in eastern China area and Shanghai Municipality, also other works such as the examination of measuring instruments quality, etc. The main laboratories of this division are located at the Mechanics Building, Force Building and Acoustics Building in Zhangjiang headquarters, equipped with measuring facilities at the advanced international level. There is a postdoctoral programme named ‘Nanometer Measurement Laboratory’ approved by the Ministry of Personnel in this division. There are five experts in this division actively participating in the work of relevant national metrology and standardization technical committees.
The division has established 40 public standards of measurement, among which 30 are the highest level ones in eastern China area. The division carries out pattern evaluations of new and imported measuring instruments, verification of imported measuring instruments, and supervision inspection for the quality of measuring instruments, appointed by the administrative departments for measurement at different levels. The division is capable of carrying out 92 verification items, 96 calibration items and 18 testing items, focusing on verification, calibration and testing services in the fields of length, force and acoustics.
Another important task of this division is carrying out researching activities for measurement and testing, developing national technical specifications and standards. Since 1990’s, the division has received about 10 items of Science and Technology Progress Awards conferred by the National Government, relative Ministries of the country and the Shanghai Municipal Government for its scientific and technical works, and many research achievements have been adopted by national verification regulations, and many self-developed measurement standards have reached the advanced international level.
Service features
The laboratory of acoustics is equipped with the full anechoic chamber and semi-anechoic chamber, with the most advanced equipments and the highest technical level in China. It can conduct testing services for parameters of sound power, noise source and acoustic materials according to the latest international standard.
CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) laboratory is the only one approved by CNAS in China. It can test most modules and work pieces with size ranges from 0 to 1500 mm. It can also provide testing services for vehicle appearance、standard gears、gear models and calibration services for gear and gear check instruments.
The laboratory of engineering measurement is equipped with the 50-meter indoor super length worktable which is the only one in China, 100-meter outdoor baseline field and standard GPS tiny baseline field. It mainly carries out the transmission of measurement values for various laser rangefinders, laser tracking system and measurement services for large-scale geometric dimensions of space coordinates.
The nanometer measurement laboratory which is now under construction will be equipped with the internationally-advanced nanometer coordinate measuring machines. It will carry out researches such as the research on Nano-CMM Platform, referring to relative internationally-advanced technology.
The laboratory of force is the first professional one carrying out researches and services for force measurement in eastern China area. It can provide verification, calibration and testing services for force, torque and hardness. It has conducted scientific researches and provided important technical data for the constructions of Shanghai’s significant projects such as the Nanpu Bridge and the Yangpu Bridge, etc.
